Acupuncture

Supporting and Improving Health, Wellbeing and Quality of Life through Traditional Chinese Acupuncture.

What we treat

Being a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAaC), the leading self-regulatory body for the practice of acupuncture in the UK, I provide safe, professional treatment that not only addresses your symptoms but also the root cause. Acupuncture is safe and has virtually no side effects when performed by a fully qualified practitioner.

Acupuncture can be used to treat both acute and chronic issues, however a course of treatment is required to get lasting benefit. Generally, a condition which has been ongoing longer, will require more treatments to influence the body.

Many patients find acupuncture deeply relaxing and feel calm and balanced after the session.

You do not need to be ill to experience the benefits of acupuncture. Many patients use acupuncture to maintain good health.

Here are some of the conditions commonly seen within the clinic but acupuncture treatment can help with many more.

More information about the different conditions acupuncture can help with is available at the British Acupuncture Council website.

Evidence based Acupuncture is also a useful resource.

Find out what to expect during treatment.

Acupuncture is an ancient medical technique, originating in the far east and dating back more than 2,500 years. It is widely known for its effectiveness when treating painful conditions such as osteoarthritis, joint and muscle pain, lower back pain and period pain; for this reason it is becoming ever more popular in Western Societies. Currently the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) recommended acupuncture as a treatment option for chronic tension headaches, migraines and chronic pain.

Acupuncture works to restore and balance natural energy known as Qi, by inserting fine needles into the body at certain points; this helps to restore the flow of energy. From a Western perspective, this stimulates sensory nerves under the skin and muscles, stimulating the body to produce its own natural substances, such as pain relieving endorphins. It also regulates the nervous system which is associated with rest, relaxation, tissue healing and digestion.

Acupunctures ability to sooth tension and stress means that it is ideal for neck and shoulder tension, insomnia, anxiety and digestive issues. Patients regularly comment on how much better they feel within themselves following treatment - generally having more energy and sleeping better.
